Die Materials

Die casting dies are made in at least two sections called the cover (stationary) die half and the ejector (moving) die half.
****************************
Tool wear with zinc is minimal, so standard H13 tool steel is used for both dies and the four slides.

All the die surfaces are machined and polished to exacting tolerances to give the required surface finish on the finished die casting.

  • The high quality surface finish in the tool not only reduces polishing time for the casting, but is required to produce a smooth surface that will take the chrome plating and produce a mirror-bright finished surface.
