Ejector Pin Design

amc.gif (6172 bytes)

Ejector pins are metal rods in the ejector half die that push the finished casting out of the open die.

  • Ejector pins commonly produce ejector marks on the surface of the casting, which are slight indents produced by the action of the pins on the warm casting coming out of the die.

Two ejector pin designs were considered for the elbow.

--- Option A -- Two Ejector Pins on the Body
     of the Elbow
---
Option B -- Four Ejector Pins on the
     Gating and Overflow Half Rings.

Option A -- Ejector Pins on Body

Option B -- Ejector Pins on the Gate and Overflow Half Rings

Choose the ejector pin design  (Option A or Option B) that will not produce ejector marks on the visible surfaces of the elbow.
