Lessons Learned

There were three important lessons learned in this successful design and production effort at Decardy.
  • Selection of the right zinc alloy is essential for performance and cost management.

  • Near-net shape die casting saves $ by reducing machining steps.

  • Precision design and engineering of the die  (gating, overflows, ejector pin locations, surface finish) is critical for producing high integrity parts with flaw-free surface finishes and low scrap rates.
